You’re wrong, Amazon…but thanks for listening

Amazon has deactivated the link to “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure”, despite their earlier defense of the book.   Customers registered more than 3,000 negative comments on Amazon’s website over a few hours yesterday.  Phone calls, tweets, and electronic feedback from shocked customers requested removal of the book; some threatened to boycott the online retailer.

It is troubling that Amazon’s vetting system did not recognise the horrifying potential of this book to cause harm; it is a matter of further concern that Amazon has chosen to remain largely silent about its choice to sell – and ultimately remove – this offensive offering.

Your conscience should guide your purchases.  But with this action, people around the country and around the world have called on Amazon to exercise ITS conscience, as well.   Corporate social responsibility prevents companies from threatening our environment…shouldn’t that include polluting people’s minds?

The story has exploded in media over that past 24 hours.  Watch Anderson Cooper’s “Keeping Them Honest” video clip here; read CNN’s full article here.
