You’re wrong, Amazon

As of today, is selling an e-book entitled “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure”.

Despite immediate outcry from parents, children’s rights groups, and concerned citizens, Amazon is defending its position in selling this objectionable material, indicating that to remove it would be ‘censorship’.

I am outraged. I agree that freedom of speech is an important and even foundational freedom for a healthy society.  However, I think the intent to harm is obvious here, and I believe that outweighs other freedoms. The acts against children promoted in this book are illegal in most societies. Promoting them should not be protected speech!

Furthermore, Amazon is under no compulsion to sell this self-published tome.  This is not a ‘freedom of speech’ issue, and it is disingenuous and untrue to claim they must offer a particular book for sale.  As a business, they are free to choose – or refuse – merchandise.

You’re wrong, Amazon.
